Can I bring my dog’s favorite toys, blanket and bed?

Due to hygienic and sanitation hazards, we prefer that you not bring bedding from your home into the facility. Kuranda® beds are provided as well as bedding in each lodging quarters.  You are allowed to pack toys that your dog will not destroy and do not have SQUEAKERS.  Our dog care providers will make sure your dog has their favorite toys during one-on-one supervised play.  If your dog requires comfort during thunder storms, we do allow and recommend you bring your dog’s Thunder Shirt®. Paw selected music is played 24/7 in all boarding quarters for a calmer environment.  

Do you accept all breeds for boarding?

Yes, all breeds are welcomed for boarding.  Owners need to certify that their dog(s) have not harmed, bitten or shown aggression towards any person or other domestic animal.

Do you care for dogs with special needs?

If your dog requires specialized care, please contact us to discuss your dog’s needs in more detail before making reservations.

We understand your dog might have special food requirements. We will gladly accommodate your requests within reason.  Due to the health and safety of other dogs and staff, we do not recommend raw diets.  Please provide enough food for the length of stay in addition to two extra meals just in case your travel plans are delayed. 

Your dog may require oral medication during their stay.  We charge a daily fee for administering medication.  If your dog has seizures, we prefer that you board your dog at a veterinary center where they will be closely monitored and receive immediate medical care if required.  Please discuss your dog’s special needs with Tail Country management.     

Do you offer boarding services to older dogs?

All ages are welcomed.  Our special needs and geriatric dogs will receive individualized attention and any specific medical care that is required. When calling to make reservations, please specify so we can discuss in more detail your dog’s special needs.

What is Daycare?

Daycare is very similar to human daycare, except these children have four legs.  Between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m., pet parents will drop off their dogs.  The dogs socialize with other dogs and just like child’s daycare, naps are recommended.  After 4pm, pet parents will return to pick up their dogs and learn just how pawsome their dog’s day has been.

Why should I sign my dog up for daycare?

The majority of pet parents have to work for a living.  This can mean long hours away from your best friend.  When you come home, you may be too tired to even take your dog for a walk.  Your dog may have spent most of their day in a crate, which makes you feel even more guilty.  Life has so many demands that your lifestyle doesn’t allow you to spend quality time that both you and your dog deserve.  If your dog is an only pet, daycare would give them the chance to enjoy play and socialize with other dogs.

Daycare is not a cure but might help solve some behavior issues like chewing, destroying furniture, digging, separation anxiety and excessive barking.  By allowing your dog to attend daycare, they burn off that built up energy. 

Daycare is not a substitute for training, behavior issue or replace that long walk, special playtime and over all bonding you have with your dog. 

How does my dog benefit from attending daycare?

Dogs are social beings and highly benefit from positive interactions with other dogs.  Dogs learn social skills as well as receive exercise and enjoyment throughout the day.  The mental and physical stimulation your dog receives at daycare allows for a more positive home life.  

How often should my dog attend daycare?

Most dogs attend at least one to two days a week.  We do not recommended that your dog attend daycare every day.  Give your dog a break from daycare by scheduling a dog walker or other physical/mental activity.  Dogs that get overly tired are less tolerant and grumpy (just like kids), which increase the risk of injury and negative behavior.  We offer daycare packages to make it more convenient for those that frequently attend daycare. 

Do you have separate areas for different sized dogs?

The dogs are carefully grouped together in like sized dogs with similar temperaments.  This will optimize socialization, play, safety and exercise.  We team up to 15 dogs in each play group with a trained/certified daycare leader.  This allows a stress-free environment where dogs can freely run and play.  All dogs must be spayed or neutered by the age of 8 months in order to participate in daycare.

What type of play areas do you provide?

Your dog will enjoy the temperature controlled indoor play areas as well as the outdoor play yards.  We have outdoor play times every day (weather permitting) to make sure all the dogs receive fresh air and sunshine.  Each outdoor play area is covered in artificial turf for a softer and safer surface.  In the summer, wading pools are provided for the dogs to cool off. 

How secure are the outside play areas? 

Each outdoor play area has a 6-foot tall fence with the entire play yard surround by an 8-foot tall fence.  The double fencing provides double the safety.

What if daycare is not the right environment for my dog, but I what them to have playtime during the day?

Enrichment League Daycare is a great option for dogs that have not been spayed or neutered by the age of 8 months.   It is also recommended for dogs that simply prefer one-on-one play time with humans.  Each dog has an itinerary tailored to meet their needs.  Your dog’s day will include different physical and mental activities in the form of games, interactive toys, and activities that have been proven to lower stress and anxiety.  

What do you do if you have to cancel daycare due to snow or hazardous weather conditions? 

Tail Country daycare is open Monday through Friday.  At times we may face snow or hazardous weather conditions.  If we need to cancel daycare, we will post our closing on our Facebook page as well as the road conditions when driving down Hill Road.  All scheduled daycare dogs will be notified by phone or email of our closing. 

What vaccinations will my dog need?

Your dog needs to be current on the following vaccinations: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza vaccination (recommended).  If the Bordetella vaccine (vaccine for canine cough) has never been given, or if it has expired, we require a waiting period after the administration, as this may provide your dog with extra protection.  We require all dogs to be on a flea and tick preventative and have had a negative fecal exam within the last twelve (12) months. 

Does the resort have air conditioning and heating?

Your pup will be very comfortable in our temperature-controlled air conditioned and heated environment.

Is the facility clean?

The facility is cleaned on a daily basis using the state of art Clean Wise® system. The Clean Wise vacuum system removes debris, the pressurized water and cleaning solution removes any waste and sanitizes the area.  Alpha Pet Tech® & Health Technology® (animal care cleaning solutions) are the cleaning products used throughout the facility.   For the health & safety of our staff and dogs, NO Bleach is used.  Any feces in the play yards, nature walk, or outdoor area, is immediately disposed of in our designed waste containers.

Because we are dedicated to the health and safety of the dogs in our care, in March 2020 we installed Aerapy®, a UV germicidal irradiation system.  Aerapy is an air purification system that cleans and sanitizes the air to help eliminate airborne and surface pathogens that can cause diseases.  Dogs in our care breath clean, purified air to keep them healthier and happier.  

Do you offer tours?

We believe in a fear free environment by providing a calm, quiet and comfortable surroundings for all our boarding guests.  Not only do we provide boarding services for dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes, but we also board specialized service & working dogs as well as those that need additional extended care.  Due to the nature of our clients, we do not provide tours.  Our top priority is the health and safety of all the dogs in our care as well as respect for the pet parents, service & working dog organization.  Many photos are detailed information of all our services can be found on our website.  

Do you have a veterinarian on call?

In the unlikely event that your dog needs medical attention; we will make every effort to contact you.  If you cannot be reached, we call your emergency contact and your veterinarian.  If able, we will transport your dog to your veterinarian to meet your emergency contact.   If your veterinarian is not available, your dog will receive medical care from the veterinary services available to TBPR.

When selecting your emergency contact, please make sure they are aware you are away and may have to transport your dog to the vet as well as stay with your dog during their care.  

An isolation room is available for any dog that may become ill during their stay.  This isolation room will allow your dog to be closely watched and cared for by our staff until seen by a veterinarian. 

Must my dog be spayed or neutered?

We will work with clients that are under direction of a veterinarian regarding the best time frame for appropriate age/size to have their dog spayed or neutered.  We cannot accept intact males who attempt to mount or otherwise harass other dogs.  In addition, we cannot accept females in heat or showing any signs that they will soon come into heat.  All dogs who attend daycare must be spayed and neutered by the age of 8 months in order to participate in socialized play.  Our Enrichment League Daycare is a great option for dog’s that have not been altered.  As pet care professionals, we highly recommend all your pets be spayed and neutered in order to prevent many health/temperament concerns.

What if I have an emergency? Are you available to assist?

Yes, we do offer Emergency Drop-Off.  Please note that this is for EMERGENCIES ONLY.  There is an emergency drop off fee in addition to regular overnight lodging and daycare rates.

Do you offer discounts?

Absolutely!  We offer discounts for multi-dog families for lodging and daycare.  Prepaid packages for daycare are available. 

In appreciation for our first responders (police, fire, & military), we offer a 10% discount on your lodging stay with identification of your service.
